STUART SHILS: ITALIAN MONOTYPES                     APRIL 1 - APRIL 26, 2008
This exhibition will consist of 26 monotypes executed by SHILS within the last year.

In the summer of 2007 STUART SHILS was invited to teach painting at the International School of Painting and Drawing in Umbria, located in Montecastello di Vibio, Italy.  While overseas SHILS had the opportunity to travel throughout Umbria and Tuscany and was inspired by the landscape, architecture and fine arts of the regions.  These works were derived from the drawings and notes he took while in Italy, and were executed in his studio in Philadelphia.

This exhibition is SHILS’ fourth at Davis & Langdale Company; his work has been shown in galleries and museums across the country, including Tibor de Nagy in New York, Hackett-Freedman in San Francisco, Mangel Gallery in Philadelphia, Woodmere Art Gallery in Philadelphia, Barton/Ryan Gallery in Boston, Sydne Bernard in Los Angeles and Fenton Gallery in Cork, Ireland.
