The exhibition will consist of 18 works executed in the past year. This will be OHNIGIAN’s second solo exhibition with Davis & Langdale Company, Inc.

These intimate landscapes and collages are made from aged papers arranged on antique book covers. OHNIGIAN’s constructions are both subtle and complex, as fragments of 19th century engravings, text passages, birch bark, or string come in and out of sight within the carefully composed whole. This delicate layering of historic materials imbues each work with the monumentality of passing time, tempered by the quietude of expansive, empty terrain or the isolation of a single face. OHNIGIAN’s mysterious pieces inspire calm, concentrated looking, allowing the viewer to imagine the action occurring just off stage, or which is about to break.

ROBERT OHNIGIAN (born 1947) has exhibited in Los Angeles and New York. His work has previously been shown at Kouros Gallery and Cordier & Eklsrom, for which he received reviews in the The New York Times and Arts Magazine. In the spring of 2013, OHNIGIAN’s collages were included in the group exhibitions Minimal Intervention at Pavel Zoubok Gallery, New York and Remix: Selections from the ICC at the Katonah Museum of Art.
