Davis & Langdale Company has exclusively represented Albert York since 1963, when he had his first exhibition here; his most recent Davis & Langdale exhibition was in 2007. He has had one-person exhibitions at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, in 1982; and at the Mills College Art Gallery, Oakland, California, in 1992; and was in a three-person exhibition, Painting Horizons: Jane Freilicher, Albert York, April Gornik, at the Parrish Art Museum, Southampton, New York, in 1989. He has been in numerous group exhibitions, including Artists Choose Artists III at CDS Gallery, New York, 1984, when he was selected by Susan Rothenberg.
In 1995, after a rare interview with the artist, Calvin Tomkins wrote an extensive profile of Albert York for The New Yorker.
In 2001, York was selected by Werner Kramarsky to receive the Francis J Greenburger Award.
Born in Detroit, Michigan in 1928, Albert York studied at the Ontario College of Art and the Society of Arts and Crafts, Detroit.
